Early Form of Gum Disease

Gingivitis is an early form of gum disease and a real and significant oral health condition that can effect 75% of American adults. It occurs when plaque bacteria accumulate along the gumline. Its symptoms include bleeding, redness, inflammation, and swelling.Gingivitis can be reversed, however, if left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, which is a more serious and irreversible form of gum disease that can ultimately lead to tooth loss.

What can you do to reduce gingivitis?

  • Floss every day
  • See your dentist regularly
  • Brush twice daily
